The Sno-Safe Original Aluminum is manufactured using 319 Aluminum. Appropriate for most metal, rubber, TPO, PVC, and glass roofs. Square channel grooves maximizes bonding strength. Exceptionally resistant to corrosion.
319 Aluminum is a 6% Si and 3.5% Cu alloy with 1.0 Fe maximum. Ultimate tensile strength is 27 ksi and shear strength is 22 ksi.
Note: Aluminum in "Direct" contact with other metals can cause a galvanic reaction. A galvanic reaction occurs when two different metals are in contact in a conductive environment such as water. Paint on the metal and sealant on the snow guards add somewhat of a barrier to this reaction but be sure to check the material of the roof and be prepared for the risk of reaction.
When using screws, which will contact both the aluminum snow guard and the roofing material, we strongly suggest using galvanized screws which will prevent any galvanic reaction between the two metals. Our aluminum snow guards should not be used on Copper or Brass surfaces.
Shear Load Tested at an Independent Lab:
Holds 1,440 lbf when fastened to a metal roofing panel with SB-190 Everseal Adhesive only
Holds 2,620 lbf when fastened to a metal roofing panel with SB-190 Everseal Adhesive & screws
Sno-Safe Advantages
INSTALLATION
- Attach using adhesive only, screws, or both
- Square channel grooves for adhesive increases shear strength
