SNOW GUARDS
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
The use of snow guards for the purpose of snow retention will be effective up to a slope of 12/12.  If the roof surface is steeper than this, full snow retention may not be achieved.

1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Delivery Requirements: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer’s original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer.
Storage and Handling Requirements:
Store and handle materials in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Keep materials in manufacturer’s original, unopened containers and packaging until installation.
Store materials in clean, dry area indoors.
Protect materials during storage, handling, and installation to prevent damage
1.5 AMBIENT CONDITIONS
Do not install snow guards using adhesive when air temperature will be below 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) during installation.
Do not install snow guards using adhesive when rain, snow, or excessive moisture is expected during installation or within 24 hours after installation.
Do not install snow guards under ambient conditions outside manufacturer’s limits.

2.2 SNOW GUARDS
A. Snow Guards: “Original Sno-Safe Snow Guards”.
Material: Polycarbonate with UV inhibitor.
Square channel grooves to maximize bonding strength of adhesive with sloped surface.
Colours: Bone White, Coffee Brown, Clear, Dove Gray, Classic Green, Lead Coated Copper, Matte Black, McDonalds Red, Musket Gray

4. Holes:
          a. Polycarbonate Snow Guards: Four, 0.265-inch diameter.
          b. Aluminum Snow Guards: Three, 0.25-inch diameter
2.3 ACCESSORIES
Adhesive: Surebond “SB-190 Everseal Clear Adhesive Sealant”.
Use: Sloped roofing and sloped surfaces of metal, EPDM, PVC, vinyl, fiberglass, and glass.
Mechanical Fasteners: #12 self-drilling neoprene-washer roofing screws.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
Examine sloped roofing areas to receive snow guards.
Verify surfaces to support snow guards are clean, dry, and rigid.
Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect installation or subsequent use.
Do not begin installation until unacceptable conditions are corrected
3.2 INSTALLATION
Install snow guards in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions at locations indicated on the Drawing
Securely attach snow guards using [adhesive] [screws and adhesive] in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Clean each snow guard location just before installation in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Specifier Notes:  Attach snow guards with either adhesive or screws and adhesive. Install snow guards in straight staggered rows at spacing [in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions] [as indicated on the manufacturer’s spacing layout].
3.3 ADJUSTING
Remove and replace with new material, damaged snow guards that cannot be successfully repaired, as determined by Architect.
3.4 CLEANING
Remove excess adhesive from surfaces not to receive snow guards promptly after installation.
Do not use harsh cleaning materials or methods that could damage surfaces or finish.
3.5 PROTECTION
Protect installed snow guards to ensure that, except for normal weathering, snow guards will be without damage or deterioration at time of Substantial Completion.
